Croatian Government: lower wages for state officials the employed in public services

Zagreb, 1 April 2009 – The Croatian Government held today a telephone session at which it adopted four decisions: on the amount of basis for calculation of wages of state officials, wages of judges and other judiciary officials, on the amount of basis for calculation of wages in public services and calculation of wages for civil servants.

According to these decisions the basis for calculation of wages of state officials will amount to 4873,83 kuna (about EUR 660) and will be 10 percent lower that the current wage, it was said by the Government’s Public Relations Office. The basis for calculation of wages of civil servants and the employed in public services will amount to 5108,84 kuna (about EUR 690) which is 6 percent decrease.

These decisions will enter into force as of 1 April and will apply for April wages which will be paid in May.
