Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia is a voluntary interest trade union organization of a higher level, which is systematically working on improving the quality of jobs, and living and working standards of its members and of all citizens of Croatia. The UATUC and its affiliated trade unions are constituted and organized in a democratic manner, and are independent of employers, authorities, political parties and religious communities.
As an independent and voluntary interest organization, the UATUC was established on 13 May 1990. Today it affiliates branch trade unions with 110,000 members, and 60,000 retired persons, whose interests we also represent. The UATUC staff is composed of more than 40 trade union experts, who cover the whole territory of Croatia through the headquarters in Zagreb and a network of territorial offices.
Seventeen concluded branch collective agreements and more than 600 company collective agreements are an indication of the UATUC strength as the most organized and efficient trade union confederation in Croatia.
The UATUC is recognized as a relevant social partner to the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Employers’ Association, and it participates in the work of the Economic and Social Council, a body in charge of agreement and convergence of views on economic and social directions of the state policy and it acts as a social dialogue forum. The UATUC is a full member of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), through which it participates in the social dialogue at EU level, and is also a member of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
